Research Internships in Singapore

Are you interested in a scientific career in computational biology? Would you like to live in Asia for up to 6 months? Are you a student in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Statistics? If so, then the following offer will be of interest to you:

Our group is offering research internships for international students who would like to get insight into the work of a computational biology group. Students will work on a dedicated research project for up to 6 months at the Genome Institute of Singapore. Research projects involve the work with unpublished data and interaction with wet labs and experimental biologists. For those who are new to bioinformatics but have a strong background in computer science or statistics we also offer projects that more tailored to their expertise (currently: machine learning, modeling and correction of bias, k-mer counting in C++,…). Sometimes the best ideas come from those that have the least research experience, therefore we encourage close interaction with team members and co-authorships on scientific publications.

All successful applicants will be supported by a scholarship from A*STAR.

Requirements:
The internships are available for undergraduate students in their third or fourth year, and to Master students. Students should have a background in bioinformatics, computer science, or statistics. Research internships are ideally suited to students interested in pursuing a scientific career. The official language in Singapore is English, so good communication skills in English are essential.

Contact:
Students who are interested in a research internship can contact Jonathan Göke for additional details (gokej (at) gis.a-star.edu.sg).
